Traditional Kids Karate Classes

At Arashi-Do we offer traditional Shotokan Karate classes for kids starting at age 4 and up; we have been teaching kids karate for over 30 years. We believe that kids learn best through age appropriate skills and drills so we group the kids into classes by age and belt level. Although we are serious about our martial arts training we make our classes lots of fun!

Our 4 to 7 year old karate program is called Little Dragons. We use a simplified version of our kids curriculum to help 4 to 7 year olds learn real Shotokan karate while they learn how to move their bodies, to follow directions and to interact successfully with others.

Our Youth karate program is for ages 8 to 15. Youth classes are longer and more challenging and the material is more technical. Kids love the structure of karate and we design our classes around skill building drills and fun.

Competition is never mandatory, though it does help our students build confidence, learn how to manage being nervous, and it motivates them to work hard in class.
Sparring is an important part of our curriculum. We emphasize safety and control, the goal is to practice our skills in a realistic way without injury.
Arashi-Do is a very welcoming environment and we never lose sight of the fact that everyone had a first day. It takes courage to walk into a martial arts school and try something new and we recognize that.

Discover the Benefits of Kids Karate Classes with Arashi-Do

Karate is great for kids – it is fun, it is good exercise and it makes them stronger both physically and mentally. We teach values such as good sportsmanship, courtesy, respect, self control and self-discipline. We work on bully-proofing and self defense, teaching kids how to stand up for themselves and others in school yard situations in a safe way that doesn’t get them in trouble.

For those kids who want to compete, we run several club tournaments a year and we go to open  tournaments.

Karate is a great place to make friends. We work hard to make sure everyone feels welcome and connects with the other students. You will see a boost in their self confidence and their ability to interact with others.

Arashi-Do is a great school for your child to learn how to protect and discipline himself and be respectful to others. The instructors are excellent
and patient. The children learn valuable skills while having fun. We are looking forward to watching our son grow with Arashi-Do for many years to come.

“KARATE is FUN!!!” I have never seen my daughter get so engaged in an activity before. She also likes the fact that she is a potential black belter. Her goals are set and she wants to be able to attain them.

I enrolled my son in karate to help him learn self-confidence. In a world of bullying I wanted to give my child every tool possible to handle such struggles in his youth and into adulthood. After his first class, I knew Arashi-Do would be a life altering experience.
