Traditional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Classes

At Arashi-Do we offer traditional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes for kids starting at age 4 and up; we have been teaching BJJ for over 15 years. We believe that kids learn best through age appropriate skills and drills so we group the kids into classes by age and skill level. In BJJ kids learn to wrestle with and control their opponent to keep themselves safe. All the self defense skills they learn apply to sport Jiu Jitsu as well.

Our 4 to 7 year old BJJ program is called Mini Monkeys. We use a simplified version of our kids curriculum to help 4 to 7 year olds learn real Brazilian Jiu Jitsu; they will learn how to move their bodies, to follow directions and to interact successfully with others in a fun safe way.

Our Youth BJJ is for ages 8 to 15. The classes are longer and more challenging and the material is more technical. Kids love the strategic nature of BJJ and we design our classes around skill building drills, BJJ strategies and fun.

Brazilan Jiu Jitsu is great for kids – kids love to wrestle with their friends while learning skills that can be used in real life. Kids BJJ is great exercise and it makes them stronger both physically and mentally. We teach them life skills like good sportsmanship, how to work with a partner, respect, and control. And we work on bully-proofing and self defense, teaching kids them how to stand up for themselves and others in school yard situations in a safe way that doesn’t get them in trouble.

For those kids who want to compete, we run several club tournaments a year. The popularity of BJJ has led to a rise in the number of BJJ tournaments providing lots of opportunity for those kids who want to compete.

BJJ is a great place to make friends. Partner work brings them closer together and you will see a boost in their self confidence and their ability to interact with others.

Very professional and wonderful programs for kids. Each child gets the attention they need and they come out with a great sense of confidence in their abilities. The staff there have a high level of skills and they pass their knowledge on to their students.

Arashi Do is our new family. I have three boys enrolled in BJJ. The instructor has a special gift for teaching children. I can’t recommend Arashi-Do enough.

The instructors not only teach jiu jitsu, but also the importance of respect, dedication and loyalty. Ever since my son started a year ago, I see a difference in his attention span, discipline and self defence. I highly recommend this place!
